Belfast 5th and 6th August.
Drove into Belfast on the 5th and spent most of the day in and around the Titanic Museum. The museum was amazing and very interactive, with loads of memorabilia and stories of those lost and survivors. A small ride showed you the inside workings of the steel yards in Belfast to manufacture and supply tons of steel, rivets etc, for not only the Titanic but other ship builds. The Titanic museum has just had a huge new refurbishment, and we would recommend a visit there. On the 6th, Maree, Reg, and Mary spent the day in Belfast while Jim drove up the coast for a look. We took a hop on hop off around Belfast and looked at some of the political murals in the city, entered the City Building, and saw a timeline of the city that was all very interesting.
Belfast to Dublin 7th and 8th August.
On the morning of the 7th, we dropped off Reg and Mary for the flight to Scotland, and we headed back to Dublin to drop off the car. On the way down the coast, we stopped at a few of the towns along the way. In one small town Greenore, we stopped at a very quant old tea shop where one of the locals insisted on drawing a map of the local points of interest. We had a night in the small seaside town of Skerries along the way. It was a really pretty seaside town - very busy with tourists and we did some local walks along the beach and to the old windmills.

The Nomadic in dry-dock was one of the tenders for the Titanic. It was used to ferry passengers back and forth to the port in France that was too shallow to take the Titanic. |
